45th World Congress of Viticulture and Oenology and 22nd OIV General Assembly

From October 14 to 18, Dijon hosted the 45th World Congress of Viticulture and Winemaking and the 22nd General Assembly of the OIV - International Organization of Vine and Wine.
On October 16, the Ukrainian delegation held 2 events, namely: the presentation and tasting of wines of the flagship Odessa Black variety as part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the OIV - International Organization of Vine and Wine in France.
During these important events, Volodymyr Pechko, head of the SC UKRSADVYNPROM and Nataliya Burlachenko, deputy head of the SC "UKRSADVYNPROM", CEO of BIG WINES, as official delegates to the OIV, presented the world community with viticulture and wine-making Ukraine, its opportunities, features and advantages!
Natalia Burlachenko gave a presentation on the topic "Global impact of climate change on the wine-growing areas of Ukraine." Thanks to the scientific evidence base, parallels were drawn in the presentation between the increase in the sum of annual temperatures, the forecast of further temperature changes until the year 2100, and the movement of wine-growing areas to the center and north of the country.

After the presentation, Ms. Nataliya made an excursion into the history of the Tairov Institute's creation of the Odessa Black variety, which is the hallmark of Ukraine, and also conducted a tasting of the best Ukrainian wines from this variety.
At the tasting, five wines were presented, which were chosen by an independent tasting commission the day before the tasting:
• Winery Mon Crafto 2023
• Gigi Wine 2022 @Gigi winery
• BIG WINES Big Art 2021
• Maryan Shevchenko Winery 2020 @maryan shevchenko
• Taïrovske Soborne 2021 NSC "IViV named after V Ye Tairov"

As part of the congress, a photo exhibition dedicated to the memory of the military photographer, Captain Arsen Fedosenko, was also held. He was not only a brave defender of Ukraine, a winemaker, but also a true artist who conveyed emotions, stories and the spirit of war through his photographs. Arsen was an ambassador of Ukrainian wine, contributing to the popularization of Ukrainian wine culture both in the country and abroad. This exhibition became not only a tribute to his memory, but also a reminder of his great contribution both to the protection of Ukraine and to the development of Ukrainian winemaking.

The Ukrainian delegation in Dijon was supported by Dr. Ricardo F. Nunez, owner of the Vinos de La Luz international group of companies, an investor in Ukrainian winemaking, thanks to whose efforts Ukraine was able to regain its place in the OIV.

Aleksandra Minenko-Decamps, the driving force of Ukrainians in Dijon, a professional in her field, who unreservedly promotes Ukrainian wines in France, made a significant contribution and help in organizing the events of the Ukrainian delegation. Thanks to Ms. Oleksandra's quick decisions, the event was held at a high level.
The events were attended by distinguished guests, real heavyweights of the wine world:
Ignacio Sánchez Recarte (Secretary General of Comité européen des entreprises vins (CEEV), Azelina Jaboulet-Vercherre (President of the OIV Awards), Julie Hesketh-Laird (Chief Executive FIVS), Nadia Fritella (WiM Association), Prof. Dr. Kensuke Ebihara (Professor of Public Law/ Wine Law), Claudia Quini (OIV President 2012-2015).
We sincerely thank you for your genuine interest in Ukrainian winemaking, faith and strong support!

Thanks for the report and photos from Dijon by Drinks+ correspondent Oleksandra Hryhorieva and Valentyna Dutkevych
This event was made possible thanks to the joint efforts of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and the public union "UKRSADVYNPROM".
Ukraine presented itself powerfully with scientific reports and events within the framework of the 45th Congress and celebration of the 100th anniversary of the International Organization of Wine and Grapes.
We can say with confidence that for the 3rd year in a row, Ukrainian grape growers and winemakers are being talked about all over the world!
